About

The Truck Tag Project anonymously tracks transponder tags to gauge freeway travel times. When a truck passes through a Weigh Station, a tag on the truck is recorded. Once the same truck has passed through two Weigh Stations, a Segment can be formed.

Anonymization

All the tags are anonymized when they are collected. To protected the drivers’ privacy, the real tags are never recorded to our database.

Data Processing

The Tag Data collected must be filtered to account for various problems with the data. For instance, if a truck does not drive straight from one Weigh Station to another, or takes a break, then the Travel Time will be inaccurate.

Statistics

Travel Times and Speeds can be measured with the Tag Data. The Data Quality can be measured by the number of Samples collected and Segments formed.
