Objective

Development of specific computer-oriented pavement "tools" for improved training, design and construction of pavement.

Project Progress

There have been two primary activites--each will be briefly reviewed.

A primary activity has been adding articles. The articles on asphalt binder refining is under view by US Oil and Refining and will be uploaded by mid-August. They allowed us to take photos in their refinery and, as such, we allowed them to conduct a review of the content. The chip seal article is receiving a major expansion of content. We have begun a series of articles on asphalt binder additives. We have started with Sasobit--a wax used to assist with Warm Mix Asphalt mixtures.

A the second primary activity has been working with the University of Pretoria to aid their process of uploading South African related content. This will include information on the design and maintenance of gravel roads--content which does not now exist within the PI.

The University of Pretoria (Wynand Steyn) has made use of the PI maps.

New Period Proposed Activity

Continue to add articles and improve existing ones.

Problems

No specific problems to report.

Implementation and Other Relevant Information

The usage of the PI continues to grow both nationally and internationally. We track this via Gooogle Analytics. In effect, this usage is implementation of the content.
